Rancilio Silvia Espresso Machine Review

The Rancilio HSD-SILVIA Silvia Espresso Machine has coffee lovers split up in the middle. Some appreciate its looks and weight. While others feel it doesn’t really make any statements with its design that’s neither modern nor retro. It seems to sit comfortably between commercial and home machine. And that’s not always a good thing.

However, in a lot of other things, consumers seem to be in agreement. And at the top of the list is grinding.

It’s been said over and over by many coffee aficionados. You will get the best results only if you have a quality burr grinder. Nothing beats the taste and flavor of freshly ground coffee beans, certainly not those that have been roasted and grinded months before.

Having said that, it must also be mentioned that for you to get the most out of the Rancilio HSD-SILVIA Silvia Espresso Machine, you’d have to get a burr grinder. It’s a machine that’s very picky with its grinds. Because of this, it’s no surprise that many have experienced dumping grinds and readjusting because the room temperature and humidity is suddenly different. This makes making consistently good shots a challenge. (more…)

Breville The Infuser Espresso Machine Review

Source: Amazon.com

Well-balanced flavor from drawn evenly from coffee grinds. That’s what you get with the Breville Infuser Espresso Machine.

Breville has been making small kitchen appliances for over 30 years. You can bet that they have almost perfected the art and science behind creating the perfect cup of coffee through the help of their espresso machines.

The Infuser Espresso Machine takes that task seriously by starting at a steady, low pressure to expand the coffee grinds. This process fills in the cracks and gaps in the coffee puck. Thus, when pressure is eventually applied, all the parts of the coffee puck are covered. The result? The extraction of optimal flavor.

Or so the manufacturer description attests.

But how well did the machine perform when we tested it? Well, rather admirably to be honest.

So let’s talk shop, shall we?

Nespresso Pixie Espresso Maker Review

Heats up in only 25 to 30 seconds!

That seems to be the primary selling point of the Nespresso Pixie Espresso Maker. Anyone who woke up late and wants to get a cup of coffee ready on the quick should just snap this one up!

A product of the Nestle Group, the term Nespresso has long been associated with brews and coffee. And the 5 decades or so of espresso-making experience the company has should be enough to put you at ease over the quality of their machines.

The Nespresso Pixie doesn’t let the brand image down. It comes in an elegant design that would look great on any kitchen counter. We especially liked how the high-quality black plastic is smudge free. It gives off a premium feel to the entire thing. And as the name suggests, it takes very little counter space.

The handle is made of stainless steel that complements the aluminum side panels rather well. For this review, we got the black and silver design. But the red/black/silver one isn’t too shabby either. (more…)
