Heats up in only 25 to 30 seconds!
That seems to be the primary selling point of the Nespresso Pixie Espresso Maker. Anyone who woke up late and wants to get a cup of coffee ready on the quick should just snap this one up!
A product of the Nestle Group, the term Nespresso has long been associated with brews and coffee. And the 5 decades or so of espresso-making experience the company has should be enough to put you at ease over the quality of their machines.
The Nespresso Pixie doesn’t let the brand image down. It comes in an elegant design that would look great on any kitchen counter. We especially liked how the high-quality black plastic is smudge free. It gives off a premium feel to the entire thing. And as the name suggests, it takes very little counter space.
The handle is made of stainless steel that complements the aluminum side panels rather well. For this review, we got the black and silver design. But the red/black/silver one isn’t too shabby either.
So what else can you expect from the Pixie other than looking great?
Well, it comes equipped with a new heating element called thermoblock and a 19-bar high-pressure pump. And this is how you can get your coffee brewed in less than half a minute. It’s really one of the fastest coffee makers out in the market today. You’d be happy to know though, that despite the speed, power consumption still managed to be low.
One other thing you’ll love about the Pixie is its smart alert system. Running low on water? Don’t fret. It will warn you of it. Forgot to turn it off? It will automatically shut off after 9 minutes.
But what about clean up? This is always a chore, regardless of machine. Fortunately, the Nespresso Pixie has a removable water tank. So just like refilling is easy, cleaning is also a breeze. Used pods conveniently fall into a holding area so disposal isn’t too hard. Storage is also efficient thanks to the cable storage.
The coffee capsules provided by Nespresso comes in a variety of flavors and grounds, so finding one to satisfy your taste buds shouldn’t be too hard. Here’s a tip: buy the capsules from the website, We found it’s a little bit cheaper compared to other retailers.
The only real problem we had with it is the size of the front opening. Forget about using oversize cups. They won’t fit. The Pixie is also giving off a loud thump-thump sound when we used it. And of course, because it uses coffee pods, these will add up to the cost in the long run.
Other than those, the Nespresso Pixie Espresso Maker more than makes up for its price with the number of features it comes with. If you don’t mind using capsules for your coffee, then this comes highly recommended.
